* Includes in-situ cases
** Excludes basal and squamous cell carcinoma of the skin

Evaluate Your Screening Procedure. It should:

1) Be simple and safe to administer,

2) Be sensitive enough to pick up a cancer at an early stage,

3) Have few false positive and false negative results,

4) Detect a cancer that is frequent enough in the population to make it worthwhile doing large scale testing,

4) Be cost effective and, importantly,

5) Detect a cancer for which effective therapy is available.
