Lucas, Daly join CMH board of directors
Rev. Peter Daly, pastor at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick and Pamela Reid Lucas, associate county attorney, have joined the board of directors for Calvert Memorial Hospital.
“Rev. Daly will be a tremendous asset to the board. His participation in the Calvert County Clergy Council has been outstanding,” said CMH President and CEO Jim Xinis. “He has been very active in addressing a wide variety of issues, particularly those facing seniors and the mentally ill.”
He went on to add, “Pam was born and raised in Calvert County. She brings a real connection to the community. She has spent her entire life here and currently works in the county attorney’s office. Additionally, she has a real interest in health care.”
In 1994, Rev. Daly became pastor at St. John Vianney Catholic Church that serves over 1,100 families and some 3,500 parishioners. In addition to his pastoral duties, he volunteers his time at CMH, the Calvert County Nursing Center and other area institutions.
His prior positions include associate pastor at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, campus minister at Catholic University and associate pastor at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Washington, DC. He has also served as an adjunct lecturer in law at Catholic University School of Law.
He helped to establish Birthright, a crisis pregnancy center in Prince Frederick and served on the board for 10 years. He also serves on the Calvert County Advisory Board for Low Cost Housing and assists project ECHO for the homeless of Calvert County.
Rev. Daly received his License of Sacred Theology from The Academia Alfonsiana of the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome in 1990. He received his Bachelor’s of Sacred Theology from the Gregorian University of Rome in 1985. He received his law degree from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University in 1980 and his bachelor’s from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville in 1972.
Lucas joined the Calvert County Attorney’s office in 1998. Prior to that, she was the coordinator for the Local Management Board for Calvert County for three years. From 1988-1995, she was a social worker in Montgomery County and Washington, DC, working with the mentally ill and dually diagnosed populations.
Lucas is very active in the community and currently serves on a number of committees at Plum Point United Methodist Church where she attends. From 1998-2004, she served as a member and officer of the Calvert County Hospice board of directors. She is also a member of the Calvert County Bar Association and the Appellate and Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission.
“CMH is committed to continually improving the quality of medical services in the county,” said Lucas. “I want to be a part of that. “
She received her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1995 and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in 1988.
She is married to Jules M. Lucas, Jr. They reside in Huntingtown and have two children, a son, Jules III, 10 and a daughter, Reid, 4.
The board also named officers for the coming year. They are Cliff Stewart, chairman; Sally Showalter, vice chairman; Dean Schleicher, secretary and Kevin L. Betz, treasurer.
