CMH calendar showcases local artists
The 2006 Calvert Memorial Hospital calendar is called “Art from the Heart” for two reasons. First, it showcases the incredible talent and creative vision of 13 Calvert County artists, including of one of its own employees. Second, it highlights the wide range of cardiovascular services CMH provides from prevention and education to diagnosis and treatment.
While the diverse collection represents a variety of styles, together they convey a spirit of caring and hope. The common theme is nature from the majestic Calvert Cliffs to a misty harbor in Solomons. The pieces reflect our community – its scenic beauty and wondrous wildlife throughout the many colored seasons.
“We are proud to share this original artwork with the community,” said CMH President and CEO Jim Xinis. Later it will be displayed in the new Outpatient Concourse that is part of the $33 million expansion project now underway. Located on the first floor, the concourse when completed will connect the hospital’s two main entrances – from the main lobby to the Emergency Department waiting area and overlook a healing garden.
The calendar also features a section on quality that highlights the hospital’s efforts to improve patient safety and the Community Benefit Report that talks about how CMH reaches out to its neighbors.
“Last year, we spent over $5 million on health services that touched over 30,000 lives,” said Xinis. “As a community owned, not-for-profit hospital that is our mission.”
Each month tells about a different aspect of the hospital’s cardiovascular program from the diagnostic expertise to technology advances that lead to earlier detection. It also introduces the CMH Cardiac Care Team that includes experts in cardiology, radiology and vascular surgery, as well as health educators and rehabilitation specialists.
Copies of the calendar, while supplies last, are available at the main campus in Prince Frederick and CMH satellites in Dunkirk, Solomons and North Beach. |
