Dr. Francisca Bruney
Prince Frederick, MD (Jan. 28, 2009) - Calvert Memorial Hospital has announced that its newest affiliate -- Calvert Convenient Care -- opened Feb. 2 in Prince Frederick. Every aspect of the practice was designed to suit the lifestyles of busy families from the central location to later hours so that parents can stop in after work or school.
"Calvert Convenient Care is part of the hospital's commitment to providing access to quality health care for residents of all ages," said CMH President and CEO Jim Xinis.
"Our goal is to supplement the care already available in the community," said Xinis, "and to help patients get quick access to primary care for minor issues that can't wait."
Dr. Francisca Bruney, a family medicine physician, who has been working in the CMH Urgent Care Centers, offers walk-in primary care for adults and children. Calvert Convenient Care operates from 2 - 8 p.m. Monday to Friday. It is located in Suite 104 of the Marrick Building behind Nick's of Calvert in the Prince Frederick Market Square Shopping Center directly across from the hospital.
Bruney graduated from the Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherlands-Antilles. During her three-year residency at Metro Health Medical Center she served as chief resident in family medicine. Her colleagues praised her "outstanding judgment and professional rapport." They also commended her "great communication skills."
Xinis stressed that Calvert Convenient Care is not an urgent care center. Patients who require acute, complex care or X-ray services will be directed to the hospital's emergency department.
"I'm here to make your life easier," said Bruney. "Even if you're not an established patient, you can use Calvert Convenient Care for quick care." Walk-in patients are welcome. Most major insurance is accepted but you should call ahead to check yours. For more information, call 410-535-5660.
"We provide total patient care for the whole family," said Bruney, "including a full range of routine health care as well as blood pressure checks, immunizations and sports physicals."
