"Casino Night" fundraiser set for March 6 (January 25, 2010)
Calvert Memorial Hospital Foundation is hosting a Casino Night on Saturday, March 6 from 7-11 p.m. at St. John Vianney Church Family Life Center in Prince Frederick. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of high-definition endoscopic cameras that will enable physicians to better detect polyps and other early indications of cancer.

Calvert Memorial Hospital's Galaxy Ball blasted into new territory on Nov. 14 raising over $118,000 for the state-of-the-art breast center slated to open next month. Fishing for a Cure, Solomons (July 22,2009)
Bunky's Charter Boats will host a fishing trip on Wednesday, July 22 to benefit the Infusion Center at Calvert Memorial Hospital. The event will include an afternoon of fishing on the Patuxent River, refreshments and an award dinner for each participant. Bait and tackle are also included.

Fellowship-trained neurologist joins CMH staff (August 11, 2008)
Dr. Eric Floranda has joined Chesapeake Neurology Associates and the active medical staff at Calvert Memorial Hospital. The fellowship-trained neurologist specializes in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular diseases such as peripheral neuropathy, myasthenia gravis and Lou Gehrig's disease.

New medical group joins hospitalist program at CMH (July 10, 2008)
Maryland Inpatient Care Specialists (MDICS) has joined the adult hospitalist program at CMH. The Annapolis-based medical group specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. They are available throughout the day to speak with family members to explain procedures and test results.

Angling for a great fishing trip? The July 23 charity tournament hosted by Bunky's Charter Boats in Solomons is a sure bet. Proceeds will benefit the planned expansion of the Infusion Therapy Center at Calvert Memorial Hospital. The center cares for patients with cancer and other chronic conditions that require intravenous (IV) medications and treatments.
CMH board chairman elected to MHA (June 27, 2008)
Owings resident Dean Schleicher was elected to serve on the Maryland Hospital Association's Executive Committee at the group's annual membership meeting earlier this month. Schleicher is currently chairman of the Calvert Memorial Hospital Board of Directors.

Board-certified general surgeon Dr. Steven Quigley has opened a new office in Prince Frederick. He has been in practice for over 20 years and specializes in laparoscopic surgery. These minimally invasive techniques generally help patients recover more quickly and are often associated with less pain.
Campaign launched to enroll low-income uninsured residents (April 17, 2008)
Next week, Calvert Healthcare Solutions will kick off a countywide campaign to enroll low-income residents who are uninsured. The push is part of "Cover the Uninsured Week," a national public awareness effort to focus attention on the uninsured and to bring together those who are interested in finding solutions.
CMH offers new prostate cancer treatment (March 25, 2008)
About one third of local men diagnosed with early stage prostate cancer could benefit from a new treatment option now being offered at Calvert Memorial Hospital. Clinical studies show the minimally invasive procedure - called brachytherapy - compares favorably with conventional alternatives with few side effects.
