Advanced training backed up with years of experience.
Patients of the Orthopedic & Spine Center who require an overnight stay are cared for on Medical/Surgical Level 3.
The nursing staff has received special training in orthopedic care. Nurses work 12 hour shifts, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and 7 p.m.-7 a.m.
Orthopedic patients are given patient education materials at the time their surgery is scheduled. Joint replacement patients who are part of the “Joint Journey” program participate in a pre-op class and fitness program. When they arrive on the nursing floor, their nurse reviews the materials with them to be sure they understand what to expect during their stay. Each day the patient and caregiver receive a “newsletter” with information about what activities will take place that day.
A special orthopedic case manager follows each patient from the time their procedure is scheduled through their discharge home. The case manager helps plan the patient’s discharge and make arrangements for follow up care as needed. |
