Infusion Therapy Center
Calvert Memorial's Infusion Therapy Center combines warm, personalized care with the latest technology. Situated in a bright and spacious suite in CMH, the center is designed to provide the utmost in comfort and convenience.
The new space dedicated for this service allows for more privacy and faster service. The unit includes eight reclining chairs, individual TV's, piped-in music, and its own separate blood draw and testing station for oncology patients. A separate area is provided for private consultations with a dietitian, nurse or social worker.
In the Infusion Therapy Center, we've brought together a team of skilled professionals who provide our cancer patients with comprehensive care and genuine caring. Our team includes three full-time medical oncologists supported by the CMH Cancer Care Coordinator who works closely with families to coordinate all aspects of care.
They're backed by a lineup of highly qualified healthcare providers, including diagnostic radiology, surgery, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, pathology, nursing and counseling. This "team approach" means that you can access the services you need in the most convenient, timely way.
A 16-member committee oversees our cancer program. They review patient care evaluations, reports from the CMH and Maryland tumor registries and quality assurance reports. The tumor registry at Calvert Memorial tracks the care of cancer patients from their initial visit and continues to monitor their after-care.
For more information about the Infusion Therapy Center at CMH, call 410-535-8276 or 301-855-1012, ext. 8276. |

Emergency
Services
When you need immediate medical attention, Calvert Memorial Hospital's Emergency Department is ready to care for you, day or night.
A private triage area improves care and efficiency from the moment the patient arrives. Separate urgent and non-urgent treatment areas optimize the level of care received. All of the urgent beds are equipped with bedside monitors.
Highly skilled Emergency Medicine physicians and nurses are on duty around the clock and work closely with the hospital's broad range of specialists and sub specialists.
Specially trained nurses are now available to provide individual attention to victims of sexual assault. The S.A.F.E. staff works closely with county agencies to provide accurate information about local resources for counseling and court preparation.
Emergency services also include confidential psychiatric evaluations and referrals 24 hours a day.
When a patient's condition requires immediate transport to a special facility, the hospital's helipad is located right outside the Emergency Dept. exit.
CMH
Urgent Care Centers
Additionally, we have two Urgent Care Centers, conveniently located in Dunkirk and Solomons for after-hours care. Open evenings and weekends, CMH Urgent Care helps you and your family through minor medical emergencies when your doctor's office is closed.
The Urgent Care Center can be especially comforting for parents of infants and toddlers when late-night earaches, sore throats or fevers strike. With X-ray and lab services on site, the center can also take care of those Saturday soccer sprains, strains, bumps and bruises.
CMH Urgent Care saves you money, time and hassle. The cost of a typical visit is no more than a co-pay to a doctor's office visit and far less than a trip to the emergency room. Insurance billing is available. And you can expect to be treated within one hour at Urgent Care, a waiting time far less than the typical ER visit.
We help patients who are unable to see their primary care physician, do not have one or are visiting the area. Patients requiring continuing treatment will be referred to a physician who can provide follow-up care.
All physicians at the Urgent Care Center are members of the CMH medical staff. Lab and radiology services are available on site. No appointment is needed.
To reach Dunkirk Urgent Care, located at the Dunkirk Medical Center, Suite 108, call 410-286-7911. To contact Solomons Urgent Care, located at the Solomons Medical Center, Suite 1300, call 410-394-2800. Both centers are open Monday-Friday, from 6 - 10 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday from noon - 10 p.m. |

Same
Day Surgery
Calvert Memorial Hospital's Same Day Surgery (SDS) unit offers convenient, efficient care for procedures that don't require an overnight stay. Our 16-bed unit provides service to same day surgical patients on an elective and emergency basis. The staff provides pre- and post-operative nursing care, assessments and education. No surgical procedures are performed on the unit. The unit's hours are Monday-Friday, from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Most patients will visit the hospital in advance to meet the nursing and anesthesiology staff, receive pre-operative instructions, complete any necessary tests and learn what to expect on the day of surgery. Early registration is especially suitable for children.
On the day you arrive for your surgery, use the parking lot at the front of the hospital designated for surgical patients. A nurse will escort you to the SDS area. You may have one adult family member accompany you. Once inside Same Day Surgery, a physical assessment will be done, surgical and anesthesia consents will be signed (if not done already) and pre- and post-op expectations will be discussed. Typically, this is when your IV will be started and any pre-op medications will be given. At this time, you may speak with your surgeon, OR personnel or anesthesia staff about any concerns or questions you have about your surgery.
Once your surgery is completed, you will remain in the recovery room until the effects of the anesthesia have worn off. At this time, you will return to the SDS area and one family member will be able to visit. The length of time you remain in SDS depends on your surgery and how well you feel afterwards. Complimentary beverages are provided. Other menu items can be requested. When you are ready to go home, you will receive your discharge instructions, have your IV removed, get dressed and be escorted to the front entrance of the hospital. You must have someone else drive you home. |
